How To Select A Drug Plan - The Doctor's Choice Way!
Go to https://www.medicare.gov/ and click on the “Find health & drug plans” button, circled in orange.
Enter your zip code and click on “Find Plans”.
Select “Original Medicare” → a drop down menu will appear once you select this option but you don’t need to select either of the options from the drop down menu.
Select “I don’t know” for the second question then click on the “Continue to Plan Results” option.
Begin entering your medications. Once you start typing, a list of related medications will appear. Select your medication.
Select your dosage.
If your medication is available in generic form, a small popup will appear prompting you to select either the brand name medication or the generic form - select the one you’re taking. Click continue. Repeat the process for all the medications you’re taking.
A complete list of all your medications will appear. If there are no changes that need to be made to this list, click on the “My Drug List is Complete” button.
The next screen will show you the list of pharmacies within a certain radius from the zip code you entered. You can select the number of miles from the zip code. The list of pharmacies will be presented in alphabetical order.
Choose your pharmacy or pharmacies and click “Add Pharmacy” then click on the “Continue to Plan Results”.
Select “Prescription Drug Plans (with Original Medicare)”.
The list of PDPs will appear in order of "Lowest Estimated Annual Retail Drug Costs". You can select a different option (see next image).
If you want to change the way the PDPs are sorted, you can do so by clicking on the drop-down menu.
